NORTH & MIDDLE ANDAMAN DISTRICT POLICE ORGANIZED AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON “CAREER GUIDANCE TO YOUTH AND DRUG ADDICTION WITH SPECIAL FOCUS ON CYBER CRIME” AT MGCC MAYABUNDER Port Blair, Nov 29: An awareness programme on the Career Guidance and Drug Abuse with Special focus on Cyber Crime was organized by N&MA District police on 29/11/2022 at Mahatama Gandhi Govt. College Mayabunderwith500 college students and faculty members. SI Ashok Kumar Bagel highlighted different types of Cyber-crimes and precautionary measures as well as challenges with the investigation agencies to crack down cyber-crime in the present scenario and highlighted the safety tips to a common man. Ms.GeetanjaliKhandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police (D), Mayabunder highlighted the importance of choosing correct career option and efforts required to achieve it because due to lack of guidance students fail to choose right way for career prospects. She also explained the components & methods to choose right career and importance of career guidance. MG College provides good faculties for the students with good career opportunities and scope in different fields. Speaking on the ill effect of Drug abuse especially in the youngsters and teenagers in the Islands she elaborately discussed about the risk factors and effects of drugs in society and their lives. Youngsters are easily targeted being lured to drugs by excitement, curiosity or by drug related risk behaviour. The harmful use of alcohol can have serious social and economic consequences for individual, family and society at a whole. The college students presented “NukkadNatak” on the theme of Cyber Crime and Drug Abuse.Dr. S.K. Biswas, Principal (I/c) expressed his gratitude to District Police for organizing career guidance &awareness programme in the college and highlighted the benefits of this awareness program organized by the senior officers of the district. DIGLIPUR YOUTH GETS 10 YEARS OF RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT IN POCSO CASE

Port Blair, Nov 25:  On 17th day of November 2022, Shri JimutBahan Biswas, Hon'ble Special Judge under POCSO Act, Mayabunder has convicted one accused a youth of Diglipur and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for ten years for the offence punishable under Section 4 of POCSO Act 2012 and also imposed a fine of Rs.50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand Only), in default of payment which he will have to undergo R.I. for six months more.   A case was registered under POCSO Act in Police Station Diglipur on 15-10-2022 on the basis of a complaint made by the hostel warden of a Girls Hostel at Diglipur that on 15th October 2022 at about 7 AM a minor girl student of the Girls Hostel of Diglipur intimated to her brother over mobile phone out of fear that a boy entered the Girls Hostel in another girl’s room and stayed there over the night and still he was there with the victim girl. The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested the hotel owner from Karnal, Haryana in the sensational Andaman and Nicobar rape case. The accused has been identified as Sandeep Singh, 38, a resident of Dalmia and Kedia City, Mini Bay, Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Island. He was arrested, while he was trying to escape to Bhubaneshwar, Orissa, in a private cab. The accused is said to be an owner of a Hotel Desi Lounge at Dolly Gang, Port Blair. The accused was hiding in Kolkata, Punjab and Delhi since the case was lodged against him at Aberdeen police station of A&N. The accused was having a reward of Rs one lakh on his arrest. Thangaraj, K. Rajendran & Raja Rao intercepted one person namely Sujit Kumar Biswas S/o Sh. Khokan Biswas R/o Krishnapur, Diglipur now at Radhanagar, Swaraj Dweep at VSI Airport who arrived at Port Blair from Kolkata on 31/10/2022 by flight. During checking of his personnel belongings, 1.760 Kgs of Ganja which was clandestinely concealed in the bag was seized and accused person was arrested observing all codal formalities.
