RESUMING OPERATION OF SEAPLANE RESIDENTS OF LONG ISLAND FIRST SEEKS  OPERATION OF HELI-SERVICES IN ABANDONED  HELI-PAD Port Blair, Jan 28: report BY ROHIT  During the Republic Day address, the Lt Governor informed that the proposal for expansion and modernization of the helicopter fleet is in the stage of approval. Under Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN scheme), he said, the routes for operating Sea Plane service between Port Blair, Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep and Long Island have been identified. To start this service, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has given Letter of Award to the selected Airline Operator through bids. For the construction of Water Aerodromes, the work for obtaining Environment and CRZ Clearance is going on. The Lt Governor has announced that the UT administration will be restarting the seaplane services in the Islands, along with other tourism spots, seaplane services will also be introduced at Long Island. The Director of Panchayats and Municipal Elections called for a meeting with all the political parties of A&N Islands on 27.01.2023 at 11.00 AM in the Conference hall of the District Office, South Andaman. ELEPHANT KILLED ONE AT DIGLIPUR

Diglipur, Jan 02:  report by rohit One mahout was killed by an elephant in Basadek, Milangram early this morning. As per the reports available, Shri Mear Barla, aged about 59 years s/o Prabhu Dayal Barla, who was a permanent labour in Forest Department was working with elephant to drag the logs. Suddenly, the elephant went viral and started running. Due to this, the log which was dragging through tying the chain went over him and the mahout Barla died on the spot. He left 4 kids.
