MAJOR ACCIDENT AT JUNGLIGHAT GUTS 9 SHOPS; NO ONE INJURED

A major fire broke out behind Durga Puja Pandal at Junglighat on Tuesday 31 January, gutting 9 roads side shops. According to sources, many roadside shops, including a barber shop, stationary shops, sweet shops, eatery and a doubles storied wooden house of the landlord was completely gutted in the fire accident which occurred at 10.40 pm Wednesday. The fire reportedly started at about 10.40 pm in one of the shops and soon engulfed the entire roads sides shops, totally destroying some of the shops, including the house of the landlord located adjacent to these shop. People have also heard a LPG Cylinder blast. Eight fire tenders rushed to the spot and after battle for an hour, the fire blaze was put under control. The double storied house of the landlord was also completely gutted. A Senior officer of the Fire department told EOI that the Fire control room received a call at 11:06 pm and soon Fire Personnel, along with the fire vehicles rushed to the spot at about 11: 07 pm. Eight fire vehicles were pressed into operation to control the fire blaze and it was only after an hour of struggle, the fire was brought under control.
