CENTRAL GOVERNMENT INCREASES MINIMUM WAGE RATES FOR WORKERS 2ND WAGE ENHANCEMENT IN 2024 BASED ON FLUCTUATION IN THE CONSUMER PRICE INDEX Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 30: report by ROHIT  The central government has announced an increase in minimum wage rates through a revision of the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA). This revision is intended to help workers, particularly those in the unorganized sector, better manage the rising cost of living. This will be effective from October 1, 2024. The revised wages will benefit workers across various sectors, including building construction, loading and unloading, watch and ward, sweeping, cleaning, housekeeping, mining, and agriculture. ENCROACHMENT EVICTION DRIVE AT SCHOOL LINE & CHOULDARI Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 20: In a decisive move to protect public assets and ensure the safety of public spaces, the District Administration of South Andaman successfully carried out an eviction drive in school line and chouldari Village. During the operation, revenue officials dismantled an RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete) structure that was in the initial stages of construction at Survey No. 200/P at School Line village and an area of 300 sq.mtr was restored in Port Blair Tehsil.
